I haven't been to and will not attend the Oktoberfest this year, because I don't live in Bavaria anymore and it is just too far away, too expensive and the weather too poor. I have only seen pictures on the telly and heard horrible stories from friends about other Wiesn-guests, who didn't behave well and seemed to lost sense of courtesy as soon as their lips touched a Maß beer. OK, this isn't new, but still very annoying!

And I always thought Germans were awful tourists! But obviously there seems to be some business for foreign tourists, who think the Oktoberfest is the best place to get hammered and throw every code of conduct over board. I don't want to see naked ass, tits, all the fillings in someone's mouth, while that person tries to hit on me... I wish this festivity wasn't all about money and people who misbehave like that would be disclosed (well, drunk people get denied entrance into a tent, but drunks inside a tent *rolling eyes*).

But that is only the ugly side of the Oktoberfest. It still can be a whole lot of fun, if you are able to control your beer-thirst ;) There are plenty of classic fairground rides, that are fun to participate in such as the Teufelsrad (devil's wheel), but only if one is sober, otherwise, be prepared to hurt yourself.

The most relaxing way to experience the Oktoberfest is to order a table. It costs a few bucks, but is so comfortable not to worry about the entrance and yada yada yada. Of course, if one happens to be a girl with just one and maximum two female friends, it is much easier to get into a tent than it is for men, especially if you are dressed in a Dirndl. You might stand outside in line and get promoted right away inside. But when the sun is shining and it is still warm outside, I'd rather go and sit in the beer garden, which is always easier to access than a tent. At least in my experience  ツ

I am not sure, if I will join the Wiesn 2013. Maybe, maybe not. The Oktoberfest has lost it over the years for me. I think, I'd rather attend some wine festival in or nearby Würzburg instead...
